"...please, please find some "get the cholesterol offa me" chocolate cake..."

So, while shopping for groceries yesterday, I got a text message from my sweety. It said, "please, please find some "get the cholesterol offa me chocolate cake...". She was serious! I have tried and tried to tell her that no such thing exists but she swears it is out there. Just waiting. I am just not looking in the right place. Hrrruummpph.

What started this whole conversation was that my sweety was told, LOUDLY, by her doctor that she had to get her cholesterol numbers down or that she would have to go on medication. Well, she is totally anti-medication! Actually she is really afraid of any side effects and does not want to suffer from muscle aches, dizziness, constipation or most of all...decreased sexual desire. Actually I don't want her to suffer from decreased sexual desire either...oh, or from any of the others of course!!!

We devised a plan. It was the "get the cholesterol offa me" plan. Armed with knowledge of foods that would help cholesterol as well as foods that were bad for cholesterol., we went shopping for cookbooks. We found "The Biggest Loser Family Cookbook" and since that is one of our favorite shows, we bought it! Now, please understand, we can both stand to lose a few pounds so it wasn't JUST the cholesterol that made us decide to do this. It was a combo with the cholesterol acting as a catalyst! We were very good. We went home, read the book, made a list of the dishes we wanted to try and a grocery list. I headed out the next day to buy all the right foods. Let me tell you, eating right is EXPENSIVE! Geesh! $200.00 later I headed home to cook...good food...low cal food...low cholesterol food...yucky, bland, gross food! Or so we thought...

The 1st night, I cooked baked ziti...it was delicious and only 350 calories and 20mg cholesterol!

The next night, I prepared sweet and sour chicken with vegetables and rice, 223 calories and 66mg cholesterol . It rocked! It was great. I was shocked! With the extra chicken, I was able to make a honey dijon chicken salad for our lunch the next day....I loved it...her, not so much.

Fast forward to a few nights later. She was laying on the couch as I prepared our delicious, nutritious, get the cholesterol offa me dinner. She was whining that she was going to starve, famish, die if she did not get some real food! Well, I assured her that she was definately not going to die and then instructed her to "just hush and eat this wonderful potato, cheese, vegetable soup and applesauce muffin (just 1) and be thankful that you have food". I am a mom by the way. The "be thankful" speech has been handed down by moms for generations and I use it proudly! To put it mildly, she was not impressed by either the soup, just having 1 muffin or my speech. The soup was delicious but she said that soup was an appetizer not a meal! Hrruummpph. It was a delicious meal with only 300 calories and 20mg cholesterol. I am doing my job. I am keeping her healthy so that she will be with me for a very long time!
This string of events led to the pleading, pitiful text from my sweety imploring me to "please, please find some "get the cholesterol offa me chocolate cake...".

Just wait until she hears that next week, the exercise regimen kicks in!!! I got a book that details how we too can be walking 20 miles, biking 25 miles, running 10 miles in just 3 weeks! She will be so happy! Ummm...well...maybe not happy...but...well maybe I will make that chocolate cake now!

**for any recipes on here, just email me and I will get them to you!
